Gabrielle Singh, founder of Australian skincare brand Iyvos, blends science and psychology to transform the way we approach skin health. With a background in both psychology and dermal science, Gabrielle has worked with thousands of clients, helping them cut through beauty industry noise and focus on what truly delivers radiant, healthy skin. In this interview, she shares her insights on the most common skincare misconceptions, go-to ingredients for glow, and the non-negotiable habits every person should adopt for luminous, balanced skin.

1. You’ve studied both psychology and dermal science, how do those two fields influence your approach to skincare and the client experience at Iyvos?
It’s honestly the best mix because I get to approach skin from both a scientific and a human angle. Dermal science gives me the evidence-based tools to understand what’s happening on and below the surface of the skin, but psychology helps me connect with people in a much deeper way. It’s all in how you speak to someone. You have to read the room, understand what kind of person is sitting in front of you, and tailor your approach to how they will best receive the information. Some clients want facts, others need reassurance and confidence. Being able to combine both fields is what allows me to truly help people, not just treat their skin but make them feel seen and understood and build that trusting relationship with.
2. In your experience working with thousands of clients, what are the most common misconceptions people have about achieving ‘glowy’ skin?
The biggest one? People often overlook the importance of hydration. Everyone’s chasing actives and treatments, but truthfully, hydration is the first thing we should be focusing on. Once your skin is properly hydrated, so many other concerns start to balance out, oil flow regulates, the barrier becomes more resilient, and that natural radiance starts to show. It’s like building a house, you can’t start with the roof (results) if your foundation (hydration) is cracked.
3. What are your go-to active ingredients or treatments for boosting skin radiance, especially for those dealing with dull or uneven texture?
My go to ingredients would have to be Niacinamide, it’s such a beautiful multitasker for hydration and barrier repair. Retinal is another favourite of mine, it’s a powerful anti-ageing ingredient that really delivers, especially for texture and glow. And I’m a huge fan of peptides, they help with firmness and skin recovery. In terms of treatments, Morpheus8 is my absolute favourite. It’s such a results-driven treatment and really targets everything from skin laxity to texture and tone. When clients are ready to really see change fast, it’s always one of the first I recommend.
4. You created Iyvos to fill a gap in the Australian skincare market, what specific needs were you seeing in your clients that existing products weren’t addressing?
What I felt was missing was skincare that worked harder, not just to cleanse or hydrate, but to actually change the skin. Most people are consistent with their skincare routine, so why not give them formulas that deliver real results from home. That was the gap I wanted to fill. I didn’t want clients to feel like they had to rely solely on in-clinic treatments. If you’re using something every single day, it should be doing something powerful. Iyvos was built to make that daily consistency truly transformative but still being gentle on the skin because we always want to work with the skin not against it.
5. For someone who’s just starting their skincare journey and wants that healthy glow, what’s one simple, non-negotiable habit you recommend they start with?
Invest in the right cleanser. It’s a step that’s often underestimated, but if you are damaging your barrier at step one, no serum in the world can save you. I always say, don’t skimp on your cleanser and then overload on actives. It’s backwards. Use a high-quality, barrier-supporting cleanser and always double cleanse at night. That one simple change can make a massive difference to your skin over time. It’s the kind of foundation that lets all your other products work properly.
