Behind every wellness brand is a story, but few begin in a busy GP clinic. For Dr Leanne Girgis, the founder of Innour, the idea for the brand came not from chasing trends, but from seeing a real need for simple, evidence-based support that fits into modern life. Balancing life as a doctor and a mother of three, she set out to create a supplement range grounded in science, transparency and a genuine desire to help people feel better from the inside out.
In this interview, she shares the inspiration behind Innour, why sustainability and clinical integrity were non-negotiable from the start, and what “inner light” really means in a world where so many people feel tired, stressed and stretched too thin. From the realities of building a brand alongside family and medicine to her own approach to everyday wellbeing, this is a thoughtful conversation about health, balance and creating products with real purpose.
You’ve worked as a GP and you’re also a mum of three. What inspired you to take on the huge task of creating your own supplement brand on top of that?
As a GP and a mum of three, I’ve seen firsthand, both in clinic and at home, how modern life can leave people feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from their own wellbeing. I kept coming back to the same question: how can we support the body in a simple, natural way that fits into the reality of busy lives? That’s what inspired me to create Innour.
I wanted to bridge the gap between clinical insight and everyday wellness. It wasn’t about adding another thing to my plate, it was about aligning my passions: evidence-based health, preventive care, and helping people feel more empowered in their own bodies.
Innour grew out of that mission: to offer ingestible wellness products that are clean, effective, and grounded in both science and simplicity.

Innour is all about proof before promise. In your words, how is the science behind your products different from what people usually find on the shelves?
What sets Innour apart is our focus on ingredients with proven benefits, in doses that truly make a difference. We rely on clinical studies, not trends or popularity. It’s about transparency, evidence-based formulations, and creating products I would genuinely recommend to my family and use myself.
You often talk about “inner light” as the heart of the brand. What does that phrase mean to you personally, and how do you hope people feel when they use Innour?
To me, “inner light” is the natural glow that comes from feeling balanced, healthy, and connected to yourself. With Innour, I want people to feel supported, like they’re doing something simple yet powerful for their wellbeing. It’s about helping people reconnect with that inner spark that often gets lost in the chaos of everyday life.
Sustainability is clearly important to you, especially with how you source marine collagen. Why was that such a must-have for you when building the brand?
Sustainability was non-negotiable for me from the start. As a doctor and a mum, I care deeply about long-term health, and that includes the health of our planet. That’s why we chose marine collagen that’s Friend of the Sea certified and sourced from farmed fish, so we’re not putting extra strain on wild populations or the ocean’s ecosystem.
But it’s not just about where it comes from – it’s also about quality. Our collagen is tested multiple times in a NATA-accredited lab to ensure it’s safe, pure, and exactly what we promise. I wanted to create a product that’s not only good for people, but responsible and transparent from start to finish.
If someone is feeling tired, stressed, and not quite themselves, what’s the first small step you’d encourage them to take toward feeling better from the inside out?
Start small and focus on consistency. One of the first things I suggest – both to patients and friends – is to nourish your body with what it truly needs. That might mean staying hydrated, improving sleep, or adding supportive nutrients back into your routine.
If you’re feeling persistently tired, stressed, or just not yourself, it’s also important to dig a little deeper. Consulting a trusted health practitioner can help uncover what’s really going on.
Wellness isn’t about doing everything at once, it’s about tuning in and building habits that support you from the inside out.
After a long day, what’s your go-to ritual or guilty pleasure that instantly helps you recharge?
After a long day, my go-to is usually something simple that helps me switch off. Sometimes it’s a Pilates session to reconnect with my body, other times a quiet moment with a good book – and if there’s tiramisu involved, even better! I think it’s so important to give yourself permission to slow down and enjoy the little things that recharge you.
